Hospitality firm Sarovar Hotels has signed a management contract for a 100-room hotel property in Nairobi, Kenya, as part of its plan to strengthen presence in Africa.
The firm has signed up with M & H Corporation Ltd to manage the three-star property, which is expected to be operational by 2014.
“Nairobi has emerged as a political, financial, cultural and sporting hub in Africa thus offering tremendous scope for the hospitality sector to grow,” Sarovar Hotels Managing Director Mr Anil Madhok said in a statement here on Monday.
With this signing, Sarovar continues with its expansion spree outside India, especially in Africa which is considered as a second home for the company, the statement said.
Sarovar’s present strength in Africa includes New Africa Hotel and Casino, a 126-room business hotel in Dar-es-Salaam and Ole Sereni, a 134-room premium hotel in Nairobi.
The company manages and franchises 56 hotels and resorts across 39 cities in India and overseas under Sarovar Premiere, Sarovar Portico, Hometel, Park Plaza and Park Inn brands. The brands cover three-star to five-star hotels.
