Sahay launches 'Hunar se Rojgaar' programme in Ranchi

Union tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahay on Tuesday launched here Hunar Se Rozgaar, a pilot project aiming to provide training to youths to help them get employment in tourism and hospitality industry. The project has been designed jointly by the Indian Tourism Development Corporation and the IL&FS Education and Technology Services Limited.

Regional head of IL&FS Education and Technology Services Limited Vikash Kumar said the project was launched on pilot basis from Jharkhand. Based on experience and feedback from this centre, the programme will be launched at other places in the country.

"We will provide free training to youths for food and beverage services and food production. It is open for all in the age group of 18-25 years and the minimum qualification of Class VIII pass. The only requirement is that the person willing to join the course should have flair for hospitality industry," said Kumar adding that the students would also get free study kit and food during the training period.

Aspirants have two courses to select from. One is six-week long for food and beverage mainly related to service and the second is food production associated with kitchen. The second course is of eight weeks. During the course the students will be provided both theory and practical classes. "On completion of the course, we will provide them employment in hotels," Kumar said.
