To endorse the 37th ICAO Assembly declaration , a Regional Aviation Security Conference was hosted by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India on February 14 and 15 , 2011.
The conference was attended by the delegates from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates(UAE),Thailand and also by representatives of International organisation e.g. ICAO.IATA, ACI ,European Union , Australia, Transport Security Administration, (USA) and United Kingdom. Mr. Raymond Benjamin, Secretary General, International Civil Aviation Organisation was present along with Mr. John S.Pistole, Administrator, TSA and H.E. Prince Turki Bin Faisal Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
Highlights of the joint statement are:-
A) To strengthen and promote effective application of Annex 17 SARP of ICAO,
B) To strengthen security screening procedures,
C) To develop enhanced security measures,
D) To develop and implement security for cargo,
E) To promote travel documents security,
F) To improve member State ability to correct deficiencies identified by USAP,
G) To provide technical assistance to State including funds capacity building & technology transfer.
H) To provide increased co-operation among member States,
I) To share best practices & information in a range of keys area of screening & inspection technique including assessment of advance screening technology for weapons & explosives, behaviour detection an threat based risk analysis, screening of airport employees etc.
