The Jaipur-based 61 Cavalry of the Indian Army, the only operational horse cavalry regiment in the world, will present a Cavalry Review in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government’s Tourism Department at Rambagh polo ground here on March 9 for foreign and domestic tourists as well as the public.

The ceremonial mounted parade will be enacted with full pomp and ceremony for the public at large in response to a proposal sent by State Tourism Minister Bina Kak to the Army’s South-Western Command here. Ms. Kak had requested the Army Chief, General Bikram Singh, to clear the proposal during his recent visit here.

According to Ms. Kak, this would be the first ever elaborate cavalry drill of the Army open to tourists and the public and will go a long way in fostering harmonious and congenial relations between the Army and civilians. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also been apprised of the event.

Preparations for the event were discussed at a meeting attended here by Ms. Kak, Sub-Area Commander Major General K. J. S. Thind and State Principal Tourism Secretary Rakesh Srivastava.
