Punjab tourism finds no transporters for tourist bus scheme

Punjab tourism department has got no response to tourist bus scheme aimed at promoting tourism in the state. In the recent years, the tourism in Punjab has not been able to make any significant progress due to lack of proper vision and lack of political will.
 
The state tourism department had floated the tenders twice for starting the tourist bus service to important religious places in the state but surprisingly none of the transporters either from the state or outside state showed any interest in making a bid.
 
Keeping in view good potential of tourism at the religion places of the state, state tourism department had understandably  had prepared a route plan visiting places of religious interest by pilgrims and tourists as per a report in Punjab Newsline by Naresh Kumar Sharma.
 
The tourism package would include five nights and six days for which two types of buses would be provided. For NRIs and high end tourists, a 20-seater super integral luxury coach with facility of toilet had been earmarked. Another bus proposed to be marked down is 40-seater Mercedes bus.
 
As part of the route prepared by Punjab tourism department, the journey would start from Amritsar which includes visit to historical Panch Sarovar,Sri Darbar Sahib, Jallianwalah Bagh and other places of religious and historical interest.
