Punjab government sells 8 tourist complexes

The government of India's bread basket state is scrambling for crumbs now. Cash-starved Punjab government, which mortgaged a number of state government properties including Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) headquarters last year, has now sold eight tourist complexes at throwaway prices. 

Sources close to the government said eight tourist complexes, including Gulmohar tourist Complex, Pathankot, Kaner Tourist Complex, Moga, Coral Tourist Complex, Madhopur, Marigold Tourist Complex, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kachnar Tourist Complex, Shambhu, Patiala, Sukhchain Tourist Complex, Jalandhar, Gardenia Tourist Complex, Kapurthala and Lajwanti Tourist Complex, Hoshiarpur were sold for Rs.5.25 crore, Rs.4.25 crore, Rs.7.01 crore, Rs.1.80 crore, Rs.2.91 crore, Rs.7.23 crore, Rs.1.5 crore and Rs.3.01 crore respectively.
