Puducherry lines up Rs 750 crore investment plans for tourism projects

The Puducherry Government has drawn up a Rs 750-crore investment plan for various tourism development projects for the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17).

“We have planned Rs 750-crore projects in the 12th Plan and this amount will be provided by the Centre as assistance,” the Welfare and Tourism Minister, Mr P. Rajavelu, said at Mahe, an enclave of the Union Territory.

He was speaking while laying the foundation stone for the Rs 7.08-crore project for renovating the Collector's office premises, pedestrian pathway and maintenance of heritage complexes.

Mr Rajavelu said Central assistance of Rs 150 crore had been spent in Puducherry in the last five years for tourism projects.
