Elephant and jeep safaris, boat rides and shows of local folk culture at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, adjacent to Guwahati, would be a big draw for foreign tourists.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who along with Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain and forest officials, visited the sanctuary on Tuesday told reporters that the tourism department will manage the infrastructure to attract foreigners for eco-tourism.

Tourists will be able go on elephant and jeep safaris, ride boats while the Tourism Department will organise shows on the local folk culture, including the ‘black magic’ of Mayong area adjacent to the sanctuary, Gogoi said.

Hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists, including those from Switzerland, Netherland and Nepal, have already arrived at Pobitora to see its rich flora and fauna, sanctuary sources added.
