Atout France recently welcomed a tourism delegation of 14 professionals from the city of Paris. Led by Mr Paul Roll- Managing Director- Paris Convention & Visitors Bureau, the delegation aimed to promote Paris as a complete destination in itself. Armed with a plethora of travel options for the discerning consumer, the delegation visited the cities of Mumbai and Delhi and interacted with the Indian travel fraternity as well as the press.
The delegation comprised of a mix of professionals showcasing different facets of tourism such as accommodations, sightseeing options, incoming tour operators, shopping, excursion and transport operators. In order to find a common platform for a mutually beneficial interaction with the Indian travel trade, workshops were organized in the cities of Mumbai and Delhi. The full day workshop sessions were divided into prescheduled appointments before lunch. The post lunch afternoon session consisted of an open workshop consisting of an interaction with the trade at large.
With an effort to encourage and promote MICE tourism into Paris, for the first time ever, individual one on one sessions with MICE tour operators had been scheduled in the afternoon workshop session. This interaction helped better understand the needs of the Indian clientele and also provide an insight into the operations of the MICE segment for the delegation.
Paul Roll - Managing Director - Paris Convention & Visitors Bureau added “The Indian Market is a very important market for PARIS: today we welcome around 230,000 Indians per year and in 2020, we expect to receive 800,000 visitors. Between now and then, we are making every effort to ensure that their stay matches their expectations and that they experience Paris like a Parisian alongside the Parisians. We also, all through the year, keep close relationship with all the operators, including obviously the journalists who never stop writing on our ever changing city.”
Catherine Oden – Director Atout France India said, "These workshops provide an ideal ground for a healthy discussion of ideas between the trade and our Parisian partners. We are also pleased to announce that this year "France celebrates India" with a double rendez- vous of art and culture. The Grand Palais in Paris will play host to celebrated artist Anish Kapoor in May. Besides this, there is also Paris – Delhi – Bombay centered around art and designed to promote cultural understanding and co-operation between the artists of these cities”.
