Panorama Hospitality Management (PHM), a subsidiary of Indonesia's largest travel and tour company — Panorama, is set to open 25 hotels with two-star and three-star classifications within the next three years in order to capture growing demand in the market. Out of the 25, 15 will be two-star hotels under the BnB brand, and 10 three-star hotels under the 101 brand.
These hotels will come up in Bandung and Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, Medan, Palembang, Lampung and Makassar besides the capital, Jakarta.
“The hotels will be located in business centers and tourism spots across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi”, said PHM managing director Kristian Kurniadi.
On average, each hotel will have between 120 to 150 rooms.
“The first new hotel that we are going to open is under The BnB brand, a premium two-star classification hotel in Kelapa Gading. We plan to open the hotel in December this year,” he said.
The BnB Kelapa Gading, which offers what they call 'the Urban Budget' concept, is located in the heart of North Jakarta. The hotel will comprise 171 rooms, different sized meeting rooms and a coffee shop.
“We call this a premium two-star hotel because every room is furnished with a high quality bed that will be comfortable for our guests, free Internet, lunch and dinner,” he added.
Generally, two-star hotels offer just a standard bed without lunch and dinner to its customers, even though some provide free Internet access. In addition, such hotels are usually never equipped with meeting rooms.
According to PHM director of marketing and communications Hera Nitihardja, they are trying to upgrade the standard of budget hotels because nowadays, people are looking for an enjoyable stay.
“People want more value and a good experience during their stay, even though it is only for a day or two. Therefore, we are offering more facilities to create an enjoyable stay,” Hera said.
She also said that The BnB was built with meeting rooms in order to support the Meeting, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, even though it could only support small and medium workshops.
The other 24 hotels would be opened gradually in the beginning of 2013, she said.
