The state government has decided to develop 11 new tourist spots in the state. "There are many lesser known sites, which have the potential to attract tourists. But these lack proper roads, hotels and drinking water and toilet facilities. The tourism department will develop the necessary infrastructure," said tourism minister Maheswar Mohanty.
The sites include Langudi Hills, Abhimanyu Samanata Singhara Pitha at Balia, Neulapur, Taraour, Deuli-Panthuri, Bajragiri-Sankha-Kantigadia, Kaema-Radhanagar and Gangi Hills in Jajpur district. Gadadhara Pitha and Kartikeswar Matha in Kendrapara district, Maninath Caves and Juluka hills in Cuttack district and Jagunipatna and Jariput in Khurda district would also be developed. Majority of them are Buddhist sites.
