Odisha government has submitted a fresh proposal of Rs 20.02 crore to the Centre for development of Bhubaneswar-Puri-Chilika area under mega circuit plan, tourism minister Maheswar Mohanty told the assembly on Saturday. He said this proposal is in addition to the Rs 13.56 crore first phase development plan for the circuit.
Replying to a question, the minister said the proposed second phase development plan includes Rs 7.60 crore for Bhubaneswar and Rs 12.42 crore for Puri. In the state capital, the government has proposed to develop a market complex on Ananta Vasudev-Kotitirtha road at an estimated cost of Rs 4.70 crore for rehabilitation of shop-keepers, who have their shops in front of the Lingaraj temple. Besides, the government has sought Rs 2.20 crore for development of parking space and Rs 70 crore for landscaping and beautification.
Similarly, the government sought Rs 6.60 crore for development of multistoried parking in Puri and Rs 2.10 crore for construction of public convenience. The other development proposal for the town include Rs 1.58 crore for construction of pathways, Rs 1.30 crore for landscaping and Rs 84 lakh for approach road for parking. The minister said majority of the work under the mega circuit plan in first phase had already been completed and only few are under progress.
