With an aim of attracting more tourists in the country by improving cleanliness and hygiene conditions at tourist destinations, Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi on Wednesday launched the ‘Clean India Campaign’ at world heritage site, the Taj Mahal.
The 17th Century marble mausoleum, which has been adopted by State public sector undertaking ONGC, is the second site to be covered under this project.
The first– Qutub Minar in New Delhi– was adopted by the India Tourism Development Corporation in June 2012.
“The Clean India Campaign has been initiated by the Ministry of Tourism with the objective of increasing tourist arrivals in the country,improving quality of services, and providing a hygienic environment in and around tourist destinations across the country,” the Minister told reporters.
