No free entry to Taj Mahal in Agra for Commonwealth Games visitors

Commonwealth Games (CWG) athletes and officials visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra have not been exempted from buying entrance tickets.

Shamsuddin, President, Agra Guides Association said, "The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) have made the arrangements. They will buy the tickets in advance and give these to the visitors. Visitors from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nations will have to pay Rs 550 while other foreign tourists will have to pay Rs 750."

The Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Uttar Pradesh has hired 30 guides to accompany visitors to the Taj Mahal. "The eastern gate of Taj Mahal has been reserved for CWG visitors while general public will have to use the western and southern entrance gates," said an official from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
