The recently inaugurated Yamuna Expressway, connecting Agra with Noida and New Delhi, has brought in a flood of tourists to the Taj Mahal, boosting local business and sales.

"It is very exciting, the influx of tourists indicates that this coming season will be quiet good. We already have a lot of dates in November and December that have been sold-out, there are no rooms left in Agra. It looks very good. The last two years were not too great for the businesses, but this season holds a lot of positive hope" said a local hotelier

The expressway is six-lane highway costing 2 billion dollars, has reduced the journey time to two and a half hours and a round trip cost Rupees 510 as toll charges. It has made it not only affordable, but also an easy attraction to tourists visiting from Delhi.
