When a Dwarka businessman and his family reached the airport a few weeks ago to board a flight to Srinagar, they were in for a rude shock. The airline told them they were carrying forged tickets. The businessman had a hard time convincing officials that a travel operator had duped him, and when he approached police he found out that more than 20 Dwarka residents had already complained about the travel agent.
The businessman had paid the agent Rs 2.15 lakh in May for the return trip and had received printed tickets. On June 16, the departure date, the businessman and his family arrived at the airport only to be told that the flight number mentioned on their tickets did not exist. When the businessman called up the agent, he diconnected the call after telling him the flight had been cancelled as per a report in TOI.
