The North-Eastern Council (NEC) has decided to take up a master plan of developing three tourist hotspots in the state, namely Kangla Fort, Loktak Lake and Moreh border town. This was stated by the secretary NEC, UK Sangma during a press conference held this afternoon at Hotel Classic, North AOC, Imphal as per a report in Kanglaonline.
The NEC secretary is on a three-day visit to the state. He further stated that the master plan has been taken up as per the resolution of the Gangtok Meet held a few years back, which deliberated on the prospect of tourism industry in the northeastern region.
The state government has also consented to the development of these three tourist centres which will be implemented in the 12th five-year plan, noted Sangma. Expressing the need to boost infrastructural setups at Moreh, UK Sangma stated the border town should be made more attractive for the tourists by setting up more high-class hotels and restaurants.
