Tourism in Mysore can be boosted only if stakeholders come with an USP (unique selling proposition) and end complacency, said AravindJadhav, additional chief secretary of the state tourism department.

He was speaking at a seminar on 'Mysore as the most preferred International tourist destination - Bottlenecks and solutions, here on Tuesday. Rotary Mysore West organized the seminar as curtain raiser on the sidelines of GoBeyond-Leisure and Lifestyle Expo-2013 as per a TOI report.

Speaking about various loopholes that have acted as a dampener to tourism in Mysore, the official spoke on the importance of USP, like how the other states have. Kerala hardsells backwaters, even though there are best places in Goa. The 'god's own country' has made beach as its USP. "Many countries will also promote tourism like that -- New York promotes it through a brand 'Big Apple'," he added.

"In Mysore, people develop too many tourism-related aspects at a time, which does not benefit much. Try to ensure as many footfalls as possible, as this can help develop tourism in and around Mysore," he said.
