Tourists from Mumbai planning a trip to Bhutan, can take a direct flight to the land-locked nation from October.
At present, tourists from city must either go to Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Gaya or Guwahati airport to catch a Druk Air flight to Bhutan’s only airport Paro. This is not only time-consuming, but also costly.
The new direct Mumbai-Dhaka flights would only use the 114-seater Airbus 319 airplanes. The pilots manning these flights to Bhutan have been given special mountain flight training due to its topography as the mountains are as high as 23,000ft above sea level.
