The new year has brought in a new hotel to Dubai's commercial hub, Deira, with the opening of the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira on 1st January, 2011. The hotel is is positioned at filling a demand for affordable upscale accommodation in Deira by business executives, as well as destination travellers and inquisitive shoppers

General manager, Michael Nugent said, "While the greater Dubai has been on a building boom Deira's hospitality sector has been somewhat stagnant and we mean to fill this void by bringing in some new blood." He said that Deira's development continues along with the greater destination, and the Mövenpick Hotel Deira is an example of the locales ongoing hustle and bustle.

The hotel is located at the heart of Old Dubai's early commercial district on the north side of the city's arterial waterway, Dubai Creek. "It is through the Creek that Dubai is able to attribute its success as the commercial hub of the United Arab Emirates and much of early Dubai's infrastructure grew up on the banks of the Creek," said Nugent.

The Mövenpick Hotel Deira is a Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts property in partnership with Seven Tides.
