The new Indian traveller wants personalized trips in India or abroad. Expectations are sky-high - literally, in the case of adventure sport enthusiasts like paragliders - and the middle-class tourist is looking well beyond a visit to a clinched tourist spot.
Tour operators, for their part, are helping meet the holiday demands of this aspirational work-hard-play-harder tourist by tweaking their schedules according to the choice of their customers as per a TOI report.
"The Indian traveller has evolved and is now more experimental," MakeMyTrip chief business officer-holidays Mohit Gupta says. "Travellers want a certain experience that is authentic and that they can call their own. They don't want to be part of a large-group experience."
For instance, instead of a Srinagar-Leh-Ladakh packaged tour, people mow take a road trip from Srinagar to Leh, drive to places that interest them, and then join the rest of the packaged tour group for the rest of the itinerary.
