Towards achieving the objective of Sustainable Tourism growth, the Union Ministry of Tourism is organising a National Workshop, "Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India" on 27-28th July 2010 in New Delhi. The 6-Session Workshop will aim at evolving a "Sustainable Tourism" Criteria for India on the lines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC).

Besides experts from India, International Experts from United Nations Foundation (UNF) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) such as Dr. Stefanos Fotiou, Ms. Erika Harms and Mr. Amos Roger Bien have been invited as resource persons for this workshop.

The sessions of the workshop include Global Trends on Sustainable Tourism, Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria and Tourism Sustainability Council, Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria in Indian Context and the Road Ahead.

The Workshop will be inaugurated by Kumari Selja, Minister for Tourism & HUPA, and will be attended by the Secretary’s of Tourism and Environment Departments of various State/Union Territories and Stakeholders from Tourism Industry. The Principal Secretary to Prime Minister of India will be chairing the concluding session of this workshop on 28th July, 2010 and deliver the valedictory address.
