The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has sanctioned close to Rs 100 crore for tourism developmental work in select places like Pali, Jalore, Baran and Virat Nagar in Rajasthan. According to a report in Times of India, the projects sanctioned under the centrally enforced scheme include: Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Barmer-Bikaner for mega Desert Tourism circuit for which Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned, while not much explored Pali- Jalore- Sirohi sector received Rs eight crore, while Daang Tourism circuit (Bharatpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur), Virat Nagar and Alwar district circuit received Rs eight crore for development. In addition to these circuits, Bhand Devra destination in Baran is envisaged to be developed in a circuit for which Rs five crore has been sanctioned.

As per MoT sources, the Government of India (GoI) has shown interest in developing Kumbhalgarh-Tat Garh-Rawali- Ranakpur forest area as ideal destinations for Ecotourism. For the same it has sanctioned Rs eight crore. Moreover, MoT has sanctioned funds of Rs 4.8 crore to aid Jaipur's bid of becoming world class destination. The sanctioned fund will be used to beautify the old state assembly (now town hall) and will also be used to develop a golf course. Sources at the state tourism department said that to upgrade facilities on highways of various national and state highways a grant of Rs six crore has been given to the 14 units of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC).
