Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism launched the Pilot Project under Clean India Campaign at Qutab Minar today. Present at the launch ceremony were dignitaries including Kumari Selja, Hon’ble Minister for Culture and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Shri Shankersinh Vaghela, Chairman, ITDC, Shri Sultan Ahmed, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism and Shri Shatrughan Sinha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament.
India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India was entrusted with the partnership of the Pilot Project of the prestigious campaign at Qutab Minar.
ITDC has been networking with various stakeholders including Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Traffic Department and the Shop Owners and Trade Association around the Qutab Complex to make the project a success. The NGO Prayas was also roped in as a partner in this project and the initiative has been taken up with full zeal and enthusiasm.
Under the Clean India Pilot Project, all issues regarding the heritage site are taken care of including providing drinking water facilities, renovation of toilets, proper signages in and around the premises, placing of garbage bins, maintenance of parking lots at Qutab Minar, conversion of Qutab Minar Complex into friendly zone for distinctly abled persons, various repair/replacement work, 24 X 7 management and garbage clearance, tourist help desks and deployment of volunteers for better management amongst others.
The Pilot Project has successfully brought various stakeholders on one platform to create awareness and implement the time-bound Action Plan for upkeep of the monument.
