Ministry of Tourism signs MOU with Experience India Society

To promote and market India as a preferred tourism destination

The Ministry of Tourism and Experience India Society have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and market India as a preferred tourism destination. The MOU was signed by authorized representatives, Anand Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Raymond N. Bickson, President, Experience India Society in the presence of Minister of Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay. Bickson is the Managing Director and CEO of Indian Hotels Company Ltd as per a report in India Blooms.

Experience India Society works to realize the true potential of tourism in India and to capture a larger market share of world tourism. It is a private public partnership formed to position India and build brand salience in key markets. Recognizing that tourism has a very high employment potential and that revenues generated from tourism contribute to the economic and social development of the country, the MOU undertakes to work towards increasing tourist arrivals into India through promotional activities.

Experience India Society and Ministry of Tourism will work in partnership to develop a comprehensive marketing plan for promotion of India as a tourist destination. The Ministry of Tourism on its part will welcome the initiatives of the industry to work towards marketing and positioning India effectively.

This MoU will be valid for three years from the date of signing and can be extended on mutually agreed terms and conditions. The current members of Experience India Society are Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, The Oberoi Group, ITC Welcomgroup, Hyatt (South Asia), CJ International Hotels (Le Meridien), Leela Hotels, Intercontinental Eros, Marriott Hotels (India), Kuoni (India) and Thomas Cook (India).
