MakeMyTrip is offering travellers the opportunity to reduce their impact on the environment and travel responsibly. Air passengers booking tickets on the website receive an estimation of their carbon footprint for the journey and the opportunity to offset it by contributing towards aforrestation programmes run under the aegis of GiveIndia (http://www.giveindia.org/c-48-environment.aspx) by Seva Mandir (http://www.sevamandir.org/) in Rajasthan. GiveIndia is a donation platform that allows donors to support a cause of their choice from about 200 NGOs that have been scrutinised for transparency and credibility.

MakeMyTrip has witnessed a good response to this initiative from travellers. Within a month since its launch, the programme has resulted in collection of over Rs two lakh, used entirely for planting trees. On ground, this translates into the planting of 18, 000 trees and a green cover of 50,000 square feet.

Deep Kalra, Founder and CEO, MakeMyTrip elaborated on this offering, "At MakeMyTrip we have taken pride in leading the industry to provide the Indian traveller with more choices, greater flexibility and the opportunity to do more than the usual. With our new green initiative, we are happy to assist travellers in finding a way to travel responsibly."
