Maharashtra Govt. & MTDC to organize World Orange Festival from 16 to 18 December at Nagpur

The city will come alive with multiple activities, including thinktank & technical conferences, trips to orange orchards, orange installations by art students, recipe contests, music festivals, cultural parades and lots more.

Nagpur is set to host the World Orange Festival in December. The festival is conceptualised and organised by Taplight and will be held from 16 to 18 December 2017.

The city will come alive with multiple activities, including thinktank & technical conferences, trips to orange orchards, orange installations by art students, recipe contests, music festivals, cultural parades and lots more.

Incidentally, the Winter Session of the Maharashtra legislature would be underway in Nagpur at the time. The main objective of World Orange Festival is to encourage and empower the hard work done by farmers to produce oranges of the best quality and to buoy the identity of the ‘Orange City’ to the world.

The festival is supported by the Maharashtra Government and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) along with UPL Group & Lokmat Group. 

The Event will be graced by Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, Mr.  Jaykumar Rawal, Tourism Minister, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Madan Yerawar, MoS for Energry, Tourism, Food and Drugs Administration and GAD, Government of Maharashtra & many other dignitories & Government officials.

With an entire brigade of creative minds and prominent personalities, the orange city will witness three days of extravaganza spread across the city of Nagpur and it shall also have a strong business angle that shall focus on exhibitions, seminars, including participation of Orange farmers from across 10 other states of India. International Orange Cultivators and Technology Experts will attend from 3 global destinations as Israel, Turkey and South Africa.

Commenting on the initiative, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis said, “For years Nagpur has been producing oranges which are equal to international standards. However, Nagpur has not got due recognition globally. Through this project we aim at giving global branding to Nagpur oranges and increase income for farmers. The key idea behind orange festival is to create awareness across the world and promote Nagpur oranges on global map.”

“The launch of ‘World Orange Festival 2017’ is to promote specialities of Nagpur oranges on the global map. MTDC is playing an important role to promote Nagpur oranges internationally and give a momentum to Nagpur as a tourist destination in winter. It also opens pathways for people with diverse interest in art, culture, food, trade to come together and converge at Nagpur for a common cause. Moreover, traditional and cultural presentations showcasing the culture of the state will give a great reason for tourists to visit Nagpur at this festival.” said Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra.
