Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan has announced several initatives to boost tourism in Maharashtra during the inauguration of the 28th annual convention of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) on 30th August at Mumbai.
One of the key announcement was the creation of a cruise terminal of international standardsl to give a whole new dimension to tourism in Mumbai.
He said, "The state is also focused on ensuring that the foreign tourists who come to Mumbai before heading to other destinations in India are made to stay for a longer duration in Maharashtra and explore its many attractions."
One of the key projects to ensure this is leveraging the magic of Bollywood. “Plans are in an active stage to open a Bollywood Museum in Mumbai,” said Chavan.
He also informed the industry that talks are in final stage to reduce the ATF in the state from over 30 per cent to 4-5 per cent to encourage more airlines to fly into the state.
