Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Union Minister of Civil Aviation in New Delhi today. The two leaders discussed status of certain proposals in the aviation sector in the state and possibility of improving air connectivity to the State.
Shri Ajit Singh informed that the Centre is in the process of making Indore Airport completely CAT-I compliant. This requires installation of CAT-I Approach lighting system for which approximately 15 acres of additional land is needed at Indore Airport. He said the CAT-I Approach lighting system as an aid to the Instrument Landing System available at the airport will help landing of aircrafts in less visibility and considerably improve airport operations in the city. He further added that 13.38 Ha i.e. 28 acres of land is also required on city-side at Indore to streamline vehicular movement and facilitate straight-in approach of vehicles to the new integrated terminal. Shri Chouhan assured to look into the requirements favourably.
Shri Chouhan also underlined the need for promoting Indore as a destination for international flights and suggested for connecting the city to the Middle-East and S-E Asia. He said that it would help growth of industry in the area. He also offered do discuss a package including tax concessions on Air Turbine Fuel for the airlines willing to operate from Indore.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also pointed out that the revised schedule of Air India connecting Bhopal and Delhi is inconvenient to passengers and requested to restore the earlier schedule. Shri Ajit Singh assured to positively look into both issues.
