The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is all set to revamp its portal to make it a one-stop information and transaction gateway for tourists from across the county as well as the globe.

Officials at MTDC said the new portal will not only facilitate booking of the entire travel in a single transaction, but it will also have features such as Internet Protocol (IP) geo-location and translations, helping in determining the country of a visitor and translating the website content in the local language-may it be French for visitors from France or Japanese for visitors from Japan.

Currently, the MTDC website has several language options that tourists can choose from, but once revamped, the site would switch to their language based on the location they are logging in from. "The translations are rather rudimentary on the site and are not grammatically correct. Now, we are roping in an IT agency which will be dedicated to managing the website. They will have their own software for translations of website content," said an official to TOI, adding that the revamped portal would be up in about in six months.

The new portal, which will soon be viewable in devices such as IOS andAndroid supported tablets and phones, will also have features such as e-guides, Google map integration showing routes, locations, major attractions, apart from a centralized reservation system for all MTDC resorts, its luxury trains and other public/private hotels in the state.

An MTDC official said the website will have a centralized reservation system for all MTDC entities including its resorts, leased resorts, its luxury train Deccan Odyssey, other public/private resorts that want to provide reservations through the MTDC portal, bed and breakfast houses, adventure sports entities and transport providers.
