The 'Clean India' campaign which was launched by the Union ministry of tourism on Friday is set to receive a push by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). MTDC's regional office is set to organize a workshop for the local governing body officials.

The main intention of this workshop is to involve the people's representatives ('sarpanchs', 'gramsevaks', muncipal presidents and chief officials of muncipal councils as well as municipal corporations) and government officials of some tourist places to promote the campaign.

Officials from tourist places in Aurangabad, Pune and Nasik will be participating in the programme.

Most of the tourist places in the state are littered with filth and garbage that is generated on their premises and the area they are in, thus giving an overall bad impression about the place.

"The workshop on 'Campaign Clean India' will be inaugurated by MP Chandrakant Khaire. Mayor Kala Oza and municipal commissioner Purushottam Bhapkar will be the guests of honour," said MTDC senior regional manager Chandrashekhar Jaiswal.
