e start-struck people of India will now have one more reason to visit the glamour city of Mumbai. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation's (MTDC) Bollywood tourism is all set to commence its first tour on February 8, 2014, tourists can take a peek in the country’s most vibrant film and entertainment industry in Mumbai.. MTDC has come up with offering of packaged tours to Bollywood in association with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitra Nagri (Filmcity - Goregaon). There are three with different pricing to suite to the pockets.
Jagdish Patil, managing director, MTDC, said, “Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries in the world. People come from remote parts of India just to get a glimpse of their favourite film stars camp outside their homes and even wait for several days. With our new offering, we will take tourists only around the residences of the stars but also on film and TV show’s sets. They can see live shooting and if lucky, spot the film stars on the sets.”
Laxmikant Deshmukh, managing director of Film City (Goregaon), Sumeet Malik joint secretary of MTDC & Filmcity was also present during the announcement. MTDC had floated EOI (Expression of Interest) for Bollywood Tourism inviting travel agents or proprietary firms to take up the operations and design packages for economical low-end package, medium-end package and high-end package. Bollywood Tourism is a joint venture of MTDC and Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Filmcity-Goregaon).
