MTDC mulls tourism project at Deccan College in Pune

Plans a heritage garden, a convention centre, an international centre for conservation and even audio-guides to boost heritage

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is exploring the possibility to have a mega tourism project at the Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute site. A formal proposal in this regard is yet to be made.

Sources said that the heritage institute has a lot of potential and if developed as part of a tourism project, it may include a heritage garden, a convention centre, an international centre for conservation and even audio-guides, thus bringing heritage closer to the man on street.

A senior MTDC official told TOI that the Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute has a lot of potential to be developed as a site for promotion of tourism and heritage management due to its deep-rooted history.
