Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has developed four eco-tourism circuits in Vidarbha region. After Tadoba, MTDC has set up new base camps in forest areas at Sakoli, Ramtek (Khindsi), Chikhaldara and Bodhalkasa. The locations have been attracting plenty of tourists, including international travellers, who visit the region for tiger-spotting. While camps at Sakoli, Ramtek (Khindsi), Chikhaldara are complete, the one at Bodhalkasa is expected to be operational within three months.
Satish Soni, Joint Managing Director, MTDC said that they have spent nearly Rs 37 crore to develop eco-tourism in the Vidarbha region. “We have been granted another Rs 42 crore with which we are planning to set up an eco-tourism mega project in the Gondia, Bhandara and Nagpur areas. The process of land acquisition is on for these areas."
