Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is holding a two day conference for consul generals of 35 countries.The conference is being held September 8 and 9 in the Aurangabad to showcase traditional art, craft, culture and tourist destinations in Maharashtra.
During the conference, the consul generals would be taken to the world heritage sites in Aurangabad district, Ajanta and Ellora and other places, Patil said. The participants would also be apprised of the Deccan Odyssey train.
Jagdish Patil, managing director, MTDC, said that while visiting India, a large number of foreign tourists arrive in Mumbai. The MTDC has decided to conduct a special drive to encourage tourists to extend their stay and visit other parts of the state.
He said the state has numerous tourist attractions - from ancient cave temples, unspoiled beaches, forts, monuments, forests and wildlife, and pilgrimage centers, besides a rich tradition of festivals, art and culture.
