For the first time, passengers travelling by any state transport bus, whether AC or non-AC, need not carry a printout of their e-tickets; all they'll have to do is show their e-ticket to the conductor on their cellphone, iPad or laptop. Passengers will be required to carry a photo-ID proof to show to the conductor/ticket checker.
The public relations officer of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Mukund Dhus, told TOI, "Earlier, it was compulsory for those booking e-tickets to carry a printout. But now, we have changed the rules. Passengers can show their e-tickets to the conductor on their gadgets (mobile, iPad or laptop)."
Conductors have been provided a handheld electronic machine on which they can punch the e-ticket number and get details of the passenger and his/her route and destination. Said Dhus, "We have also revised the rules for cancellation of e-tickets. In the past, one had to cancel a ticket 48 hours before the commencement of the journey. But now, you can cancel an e-ticket just four hours before the journey."
