MP received Rs 1,500 crore private investment proposals in tourism

Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals of Rs 1,500 crore from private players in 16 special tourism zones in the state, a senior official of the MP State Tourism Development Corporation has said.

Private investors could invest in the 16 special tourism zones which were identified by the state tourism department. These zones would provide additional subsidies and incentives for the investors apart from tax exemptions,O V Chowdhury, Chief General manager of MPSTDC told a press conference in Kolkata.

He said that big players like the Taj and Oberoi group besides Essel World have shown interest and that private investors could purchase land or take land on lease for a period of 90 years.

Opportunities were open in place like Jabalpur, Chhattarpur, Dhar, Indore, Sivni and Narsingpur.

He said that the tourism policy of the state provided ample scope for the development of tourism infrastructure through private participation.

Chowdhury said that the corporation was introducing different new tourism circuits to facilitate tourists as it was not possible to cover the state at one go.

To help tourists visiting different destinations in MP as well as corporate travelers, an intra-state air service has been introduced by M P tourism and Ventura Air connect pvt ltd, he said.

The services were available from Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Khajuraho, Indore and Gwalior, he said.
