MP Tourism is making all-out efforts to boost tourism industry in the state. In a bid to woo tourists to the so far unknown tourist spots in the city, the state government is now focusing on Kushalgarh Fort in Indore.
Built in 14th century, the fort was first used as a prison. The commander of Devi Ahilya Bai's army was imprisoned in this fort, which was in the possession of Pindaris too. Built with stone and lime, it has a single entrance and is surrounded by bastions on all sides.
The government also had recently released a book Unknown attractions around the known destinations to give an opportunity to avid travelers to explore more of the state.
In a similar move, the government had offered land, measuring 11,319 hectares at Rau area inIndore, for investors. The land has been offered for amusement park, star hotel, shopping mall or multiplex.
The state could not attract any significant investment during NRI summit held in Jaipur in the second week of January. The states that benefited the most include Maharashtra and Gujarat. Still, a state government official, on the condition of anonymity, said some of the NRIs have evinced interest in investing in the state to establish amusement parks and cancel hospitals.
