The fall in rupee has hit the holiday plans for many Indian travelers abroad. Travel portals and tour operators claim people are spending on the unexplored domestic destinations rather spending more on international trips.
Many tour operators say that most travelers are in a wait and watch mode, hoping for the local currency to regain the lost value for rupee. But travelers who have already booked their tickets are not cancelling their booking and are going ahead with their plans. While travellers are not cancelling their holiday plans, many are indeed looking for domestic vacations which would be cheaper.
Some travellers who have not booked their tickets yet are looking luxury domestic destination. While most middle-income groups are looking to offset those costs by opting for shorter duration stays and looking at budget accommodation options.
