Lufthansa Airlines has introduced a new first class cabin on the Delhi and Mumbai sectors, apart from offering more space in the economy class, to cash in on the busy winter season.
"India is among the first in Asia on which Lufthansa launches this new product. The upgraded Boeing 747-400s will be deployed on the Delhi-Frankfurt and the Mumbai-Frankfurt routes from October 31," the airline said in a statement.
The new first class seating provides a separate bed in addition to a seat, ensuring a quieter and more exclusive atmosphere for customers flying on Lufthansa's premium product, it added. The airline has also decided to offer more comfort to the economy class guests by providing up to 7 cm of additional personal space and legroom.
"The introduction of our new premium product assures Indian first class guests never-before luxury," said Lufthansa South Asia director Axel Hilgers. For this first class seating, the airline has converted the window seats into full-length, lie-flat beds over two meters in length, giving each passenger a separate bed in addition to a seat. But this reduces the number of first class seats to just eight.
