On 6 March 2013 at the ITB MICE Day, participants can take a look behind the scenes of organising events and gain an overview of the event industry’s many different rules, as well as their finer points. Increasingly, the principle underlying events and incentives is “law and order“. However, calls for compliance, event security and data protection are creating uncertainty among event organisers. For some, it is hard to know what content and formats will be allowed in the future.

Compliance guidelines define where customer relations end and where corruption begins. The Regulations on Places of Assembly ensure that visitors and employees can safely take part in events. Event organisers are also responsible for ensuring that personal data is handled in the correct way. Any lack of knowledge of important rules can lead to far-reaching consequences. Failure to take GEMA registration seriously is a point in case. As well as the dangers associated with contracts it is the overall legal framework that presents pitfalls for organisers in their day-to-day work.

At ITB Berlin 2013 leading experts will show how, despite the many rules, it is possible to hold successful events. In mid-December details of the ITB MICE Day programme will be available at www.itb-kongress.de/businesstravel.
