Leading Hotels wins bid to develop golf course in Goa

Spread over 200 acres, the proposed project will include a 150 acre international standard golf course and the other 50 acres will be utilised for allied hospitality and tourist facilities.

Leading Hotels Private Limited has won the bid to develop and run a golf course in Goa  for the prestigious state government promoted tourism initiative.

As per PTI reports, the company will take forward golf course project at state's Northernmost Pernem taluka.

Goa tourism director Swapnil Naik said the department has now zeroed down on the Leading Hotels Pvt Ltd and has invited them to submit its detailed plan for scrutiny.

Naik said the golf course would be of Professional Golfers Association (PGA) standard. The process to set up this tourism initiative had began earlier last year and Goa tourism department had invited the developers by floating an Expression of Interest (EoI).

"In response, the tourism department received proposals from three parties - Leading Hotels, DLF and Oxford Properties.

The tourism department has now zeroed down on the Leading Hotels Pvt Ltd and has invited them to submit its detailed plan for scrutiny," he said.

The international Four Seasons group will be associated with the project in terms of operations and management. "We have issued a letter of intent to the Leading Hotels and have requested them to submit a detailed project report on the proposed golf course project," Naik said.

Pernem has emerged as the most preferred location for the project with all three developers choosing to go with the taluka located in the northern district.

"The proposed developers have identified Terekol in the Pernem taluka as the most ideal location for the golf course project," he added.
