Kuttanad is all set to usher in the tourism season with foreigners eagerly awaiting the cycling tours into the villages here.
Since Kuttanad is blessed with greenery and pleasant weather, cycling along the banks of the Backwaters, through coconut farms and along small lagoons, is sure to be an envigorating experience.
The cycling tour package launched just three months ago here, is fast becoming popular among foreign tourists as the narrow curvy roads make the exercise more adventurous as well as memorable.
The cycling tour was started in Kuttanad by a young tour operator, Binu Joseph, who realized the potential of such tours through the verdant villages as per a report in DC.
“Unlike other destinations, Kuttanad is largely unexplored. At present, we are getting quite a lot of enquiries about the cycling tours despite the fact that it was launched just three months ago. Last month, we got as many 10 couples wanting to cycle around. When the season opens, we expect a good number of tourists”, he said.
“At present, we cycle down to villages like Pallathuruthy, Kidangara, Chakulathukavu, Edathua and Kavalam. We charge Rs 3,000 for a couple.
Tourists are treated to fresh toddy as part of the package. It also offers a rich mix of backwater views, and a taste of village life”, said Joseph.
