The Kodagu district has a lot of potential for tourism development and the proposals submitted by Kodagu district administration for tourism activities will be allotted grants on priority basis, informed Tourism Department Director Vishwanath Reddy.

He was addressing the review meeting of the tourism related developmental work at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday. He insisted the district administration to utilise the grants released from the government for betterment of the district. 

The tourism related developmental work should be completed within the deadline and good facilities should be provided to the tourists and locals, he said.

He directed the Public Works Department Executive Engineer to complete the construction of Kodava Heritage Centre which is being built near Golf Couse in K Nidugane Gram Panchayat at the earliest. 

Reddy sought information about the progress of various developmental work including the construction of toilets and drinking water facilities near Nalkunadu Aramane, gardening, toilet construction in Fort Hall premises, park development, upgrading the basic facilities near Abbi falls, Thanthipal bridge construction, developmental work at five acres of vacant land in Raj Seat etc.

He instructed Zilla Panchayat CEO N Krishnappa to direct the Panchayat Development Officer concerned to build toilet near Abbi falls for the benefit of tourists.

Following the meet, the Director visited the Kodava Heritage Centre which is under construction near the Golf Court.
