State police launched its first special 'tourist police station' at Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district on Saturday. Set up post-Swiss woman's gangrape in Datia, the new police station will guide tourists on all matters and will ensure that language barrier doesn't hamper their stay or security.
The tourist police station was inaugurated by Sagar zone inspector general of police (IGP) Pankaj Shrivastava. Six policemen, posted at this post will patrol the entire area on cycle, he said.
The special tourist police stations will be started at 11 other places across the state. Around 200 police personnel are being trained in spoken English and attitude, to be posted as "tourist police" at 11 different destinations across the state.
