Kerala Tourism allocates 1.5 Crore to develop Payamkuttymala hill station

Payamkuttymala, one of the less explored hill stations in Kozhikode district, is all set to be a tourist hotspot with the latest decision of the Kerala Tourism Department to allocate more funds for facilitating an eco-friendly development in the region.

If the proposals submitted by the local bodies are getting approved, the region is likely to get an aid of Rs.1.50 crore to start on the works during this fiscal.

The hillock, located in Villiyappally panchayat, now attracts domestic and international tourists. The proposal submitted to the government includes the construction of an 800-metre road from Lokanarkavu to the hill station, and parking space.

Both the Kuttiyadi and Vadakara Assembly constituencies have come together to pool funds for the development. The Vadakara Assembly constituency will mainly focus on the development of Lokanarkavu tourism sites.

Nanu, MLA from Vadakara Assembly constituency, says the development project will largely look into the scope of attracting sightseers to the ancestral property of the legendary ‘Thacholi Tharavadu’. “We have been offered the required fund and support by Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar, he adds.
