According to a communication issued by the IAAI, the Kerala High Court, while hearing the Contempt of Court Case against MoCA and DGCA of disregarding the HC directives following DGCA’s March 5, 2010 order, has asked MoCA Secretary, Nasim Zaidi and Director General of Civil Aviation, Bharat Bhushan to answer personally before the Court as to why penal action for contempt should not be served on them.

IAAI President, Biji Eapen, who is also a petitioner in this case, while confirming the news, informed that a letter in this regard will be sent to the two respondents in a day or two by the HC. According to the DGCA’s March 5, 2010 order, Commission is the only lawful remuneration payable to Travel Agents and declining Transaction fee as illegal and that the quantum of commission should be decided by the Airlines.

Meanwhile, the 16 ‘zero’ carriers have continued with their no commission policy since it was implemented by them two and a half years ago.
