Kenya saw a rise of 70 per cent in Indian tourist footfall, with around 59,000 Indians visiting the African country in 2011.
According to data prepared by Kenya Tourism Board, there has been an overall growth of 70 per cent in Indian arrivals, making it a highly potential market for the African country.
However, Kenyan tourist influx to India has been quite low with only 29,223 Kenyans visiting the country in 2010, while the data for 2011 is not available yet.
Encouraged by the remarkable growth in tourist influx from India, Kenya has organised a series of roadshows in Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata.
Kenya Tourism Board anticipates a further growth of 10-15 per cent in Indian arrivals in the coming years.
According to the data, most tourists visiting Kenya are from the western Indian region, including Gujarat and Mumbai, followed by New Delhi and the rest of the country.
Kenya has promoted itself not just as a destination for adventure and wildlife safari but also has an array of packages for honeymooners and families.
