Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir today said that the famous tourist spot Verinag would be developed as a prime tourist destination to attract more tourists to south Kashmir.
"The world famous tourist spot Verinag, popularly known as the gateway of Kashmir Tourism, would be developed as a prime tourist destination," Mir said during a review meeting of works being executed under the Verinag Tourism Development Authority (VTDA) here.
The Government would also explore possibilities to develop Verinag-Khanabal-Kokernag-Simthan as a new tourist circuit, the minister said.
He said four central government-sponsored infrastructure projects costing Rs 10 crore were underway at the Tourist resort, while the department is also formulating a proposal to develop a Cable Car project in the area.
