Expressing satisfaction over the good flow of tourists to Kashmir this year, the Hoteliers Club Saturday asked the government to provide the tourism sector industrial benefits guaranteed to it by the state.
“Now Kashmir is back on tourism track but government is denying this sector the industrial benefits. Tourism sector has been declared as an industry but no benefit is given to this growing sector. Tourism industry is a major employment generator for the state,” said Chairman Hoteliers Club Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya while presiding over the quarterly General Meeting at Grand Mumtaz Hotel in Sara City Center.
The Hoteliers Club also expressed concern over the lack of tourism infrastructure in the state. “If we are receiving good rush of tourists, we should also be able to provide best facilities to them so that they leave the state with good impression. Government should provide proper electricity and water supply at tourist resorts and develop connectivity with proper roads,” said Chaya.
The members in the Hoteliers Club also called for a comprehensive policy for the sustainable tourism. “We should have a proper tourism policy which will help streamline the infrastructure development. If there is a haphazard growth of the tourism infrastructure, it will only prove disastrous for the tourism sector,” said Secretary General Hoteliers Club Musadiq Shah.
